European Partners Strengthen Collaboration for a Healthier Future During Healthy Lifestyle Network Europe Meeting in Serbia

May 27, 2026

Representatives from the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, and Lithuania gathered in Novi Sad, Serbia, from May 20 to 22 for a project meeting of the Healthy Lifestyle Network Europe (HLNE) project. The meeting was hosted by CHESS (Center for Health, Exercise and Sports Sciences), with New Health from the Netherlands serving as project leader. Together, they welcomed the partners for three days of knowledge exchange, evaluation, and future planning.

During the meeting, extensive attention was given to the progress of the European Healthy Lifestyle Network Europe project, which focuses on increasing awareness of healthy lifestyles, prevention, and sustainable health across Europe. Partners discussed the further implementation of the Healthy Lifestyle Promoter programme, which has already reached thousands of European citizens and professionals.

An important part of the meeting focused on the progress of the new Healthy Lifestyle Coach pilot programme, in which participants from all partner countries are gaining practical experience in lifestyle coaching and behaviour change. The pilot will continue until the end of August, after which a joint evaluation will take place to further optimise the programme.

The partners also discussed the future of collaboration through the planned Healthy Lifestyle Network Europe Consortium. The consortium aims to develop into a European network for lifestyle awareness, prevention, and lifestyle education for both citizens and professionals, with education programmes, campaigns, and innovative health initiatives as key pillars.

In addition, new European initiatives were explored, including potential Horizon projects, programmes focused on healthy ageing, reducing loneliness, and innovative lifestyle initiatives for workplaces and society.

The meeting once again highlighted the shared ambition of the European partners: building healthier people, healthier communities, and a healthier future for Europe.
